Sugar plants run hard on a seasonal cycle, and the equipment that concentrates and crystallizes the stream carries most of that load. We build that equipment to the process conditions your facility works to, and we build replacements to fit the plant that is already there.

Most sugar equipment is replaced rather than designed from scratch, and the constraint is rarely the duty — it is the envelope, the nozzles and the supports the unit has to drop into.

We work from existing drawings or field measurements, re-tube where the shell is sound, and re-rate where the duty has moved past the original basis. See repairs, re-tubing and re-rating.

What equipment does Harris Thermal fabricate for sugar processing?

Juice heaters, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, condensers, reheaters, process heaters and coolers, evaporators including falling-film designs, crystallizers, flash tanks, process and mixing vessels, storage tanks, separator vessels, process columns and towers, scrubber vessels and cyclones. Replacement exchangers and tube bundles are fabricated alongside new equipment.

What types of sugar-processing facilities can Harris Thermal support?

Sugar production and refining generally. The heat transfer, evaporation, crystallization, separation and storage duties that run through a sugar facility are the same equipment types Harris Thermal has fabricated for more than a century across the process industries, and our project history includes extensive equipment fabrication for beet sugar processing. Harris Thermal fabricates equipment to the process design supplied by the producer, refiner or engineering firm; it does not supply complete sugar-processing plants.

Can Harris Thermal fabricate replacement equipment for existing sugar plants?

Yes. Replacement heat exchangers and juice heaters built to existing envelope and nozzle geometry, replacement tube bundles for sound shells, evaporator and condenser equipment, vessels, flash tanks and custom fabricated equipment built around the interfaces already in the plant. Existing drawings, the current duty and the duty now required are the useful starting point.
