Industries Served · Water Treatment

Custom equipment for industrial water treatment & desalination.

Heat exchangers, evaporators, crystallizers, pressure vessels, tanks, and specialty-fabricated equipment for industrial water treatment, desalination, brine concentration, and zero liquid discharge applications.

Industrial · Desalination · ZLD · High Purity

Equipment built for the hardest water in the plant.

Industrial water treatment concentrates whatever the process could not use. The stream gets more saline, more scaling and more aggressive as it moves through recovery, and the equipment at the end of that chain sees conditions the front of the plant never does.

Harris Thermal fabricates the heat exchangers, evaporators, crystallizers, vessels and tanks that handle those duties — designed to the process conditions and materials your system requires, and built in our own shop in Newberg, Oregon.

Applications

Where our equipment works.

Zero Liquid Discharge

Evaporators and crystallizers that take a waste stream to solids, eliminating liquid discharge where regulation, water scarcity or site constraints require it.

Desalination & Brine Concentration

Thermal concentration equipment for seawater, brackish water and reject brine, in the alloys chloride service demands.

Industrial Wastewater & Reuse

Heat exchangers, vessels and evaporation equipment for process water recovery, effluent minimisation and reuse loops.

High-Purity Process Water

ASME-code vessels, exchangers and tanks for contamination-sensitive process water, built to project material and documentation requirements.

Our Equipment

What we fabricate for water treatment.

Heat Transfer

  • Shell & Tube Heat ExchangersProcess heating, cooling and heat recovery across treatment and concentration duties.
  • CondensersVapour condensing duty for evaporation and recovery trains.
  • Process Heaters & CoolersTemperature control on feed, product and recycle streams.
  • Replacement BundlesNew bundles built to existing shell and tubesheet geometry.

Evaporation & Crystallization

  • Falling-Film EvaporatorsEfficient concentration where the stream tolerates thin-film service.
  • Forced-Circulation EvaporatorsFor scaling, high-viscosity and solids-bearing duties.
  • CrystallizersSolids recovery at the end of a concentration train.
  • Brine Concentration EquipmentBuilt for the chloride levels and temperatures reject brine reaches.

Vessels & Tanks

  • ASME Pressure VesselsSection VIII, Division 1 construction, U-stamped where the service requires it.
  • Process VesselsReaction, holding and treatment duty.
  • SeparatorsSolids and liquid separation ahead of concentration.
  • Mixing & Storage TanksChemicals, brine, treated water and intermediate storage.

Specialty Fabrication

  • Scrubbers & ColumnsOff-gas handling and process column duty.
  • CyclonesSolids separation and classification.
  • High-Alloy EquipmentFull fabrication in the alloys saline and oxidising service needs.
  • Clad ConstructionCorrosion-resistant wetted surfaces over a structural carbon-steel backing.
Zero Liquid Discharge

Equipment for the end of the recovery train.

A ZLD train is a sequence, not a single machine: pre-concentration, thermal evaporation, then crystallization to solids. Each stage hands a harder stream to the next, and the metallurgy usually has to change with it.

Harris Thermal fabricates the evaporators, crystallizers, condensers, exchangers and vessels those stages need, in materials matched to where in the train the equipment sits.

  • Falling-film and forced-circulation evaporators
  • Crystallizers for final solids recovery
  • Condensers and heat recovery exchangers
  • High-alloy and clad construction

Understand the Process

What is a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) system?

Our technical article works through why three distinct technologies run in sequence, what each stage actually removes, and what drives the energy cost of true ZLD.

Materials

Built for corrosive water and brine service.

Chloride level, temperature, concentration and oxidising conditions decide the alloy, and the answer often changes between the front and the back of the same train. Clad and explosion-bonded construction is available where a corrosion-resistant wetted surface over a structural carbon-steel backing suits the design. Marine Service

Proven in harsh marine environments.

Seawater is the hardest water most equipment will ever see. Harris Thermal's project history includes marine recuperators and equipment fabricated for wave-energy programs — work carried out in the alloys and construction that continuous seawater exposure demands. That experience carries directly into desalination and coastal treatment duty.

Replacement Equipment

Replacing equipment in a running plant

Exchangers and bundles built to existing geometry so they drop into the piping and supports already there, re-tubed where the shell is sound, or re-rated for a duty the original was not sized for.

FAQs

Water treatment equipment questions.

What equipment does Harris Thermal fabricate for industrial water treatment?

Shell-and-tube heat exchangers, condensers, process heaters and coolers, falling-film and forced-circulation evaporators, crystallizers, brine concentration equipment, ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, separators, process and storage tanks, scrubbers, columns and cyclones. Harris Thermal fabricates the equipment that goes into a treatment or recovery system; the system itself is designed and integrated by the engineering firm or system provider responsible for it.

Can Harris Thermal fabricate equipment for ZLD and brine concentration?

Yes. Zero liquid discharge and brine concentration are evaporator and crystallizer duties, and both are core Harris Thermal equipment. Falling-film and forced-circulation evaporators concentrate the stream, crystallizers take it to solids, and the associated condensers, heat exchangers and vessels are fabricated alongside them. Equipment is built to the process conditions, materials and code requirements the system designer sets.

What materials are available for corrosive water and brine service?

Carbon steel, 304L and 316L stainless, duplex stainless, AL-6XN, Hastelloy, Inconel, Monel, titanium and other qualified specialty materials. Clad and explosion-bonded construction is available where a corrosion-resistant wetted surface over a structural carbon-steel backing suits the design. Selection follows the chloride level, temperature, concentration and oxidising conditions of the specific stream.

Can Harris Thermal support high-purity water applications?

Yes. Harris Thermal fabricates ASME-code vessels, heat exchangers and tanks for high-purity and contamination-sensitive process water service, built to the material, surface-condition and documentation requirements the project specification defines.
